Anne of the Island sends Anne Shirley off Prince Edward Island to Redmond College in Kingsport, where she rooms at Patty's Place with her old friend Priscilla, the practical Stella, and the delightfully superstitious chaperone Aunt Jamesina. College brings Anne a string of suitors — among them the wealthy, poetic Roy Gardner, whom she very nearly accepts — before a near-fatal illness that almost takes Gilbert Blythe forces Anne to recognize, too late by her own reckoning, what she actually feels for her oldest friend.

L. M. Montgomery published Anne of the Island in 1915, the third novel in the Anne of Green Gables series, following Anne of Avonlea (1909).

Bibliomancer publishes the 1915 text exactly as L. M. Montgomery wrote it.
