Mowgli, a human child raised by wolves in the Indian jungle, learns the Law of the Jungle from Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther and grows up to face the tiger Shere Khan. His stories alternate with others — Rikki-Tikki-Tavi the mongoose, the White Seal, Toomai of the Elephants — each followed by a poem.

Rudyard Kipling published the collection in 1894, drawing on a childhood in India he had left at five. Bibliomancer presents the complete text with the poems.
