The Hand in the Dark
At the moat-house, the ancestral seat of Sir Philip Heredith, a house party is still at dinner one autumn evening in 1918 when a shot rings out from upstairs. Violet, the fashionable young wife Phil Heredith brought home from London against his family's wishes, is found in her bedroom, mortally wounded, and how anyone could have reached her unseen becomes the case's central puzzle.
Arthur J. Rees published the novel in 1920, through John Lane.
Bibliomancer restores the 1920 text exactly as Rees wrote it.
