The Country of the Pointed Firs
An unnamed woman writer spends a summer boarding with Mrs. Almira Todd, an herbalist in the fictional Maine fishing village of Dunnet Landing, and records its residents and their stories in a series of loosely connected sketches rather than a single plot.
Sarah Orne Jewett published the book in 1896, building it from sketches she had written for The Atlantic Monthly; it is often cited as one of the finest achievements of American literary regionalism.
Bibliomancer restores the 1896 text exactly as Jewett wrote it.
