Friday, the Thirteenth
A Novel
Bob Brownley is a Wall Street broker who has watched the System — the syndicate of financiers who make and break fortunes at will — ruin the people around him, and he sets out to break it first, staking everything on a single panic he engineers to detonate on a Friday the thirteenth. His friend Jim Randolph watches the gamble unfold.
Thomas W. Lawson published the novel in 1907. Lawson was himself a Boston stock promoter who had made and lost fortunes on the exchange, and he turned that firsthand knowledge of market manipulation into fiction; the book reportedly sold more than 60,000 copies in its first month.
Bibliomancer restores the 1907 text exactly as Lawson wrote it.
