C. K. Scott-Moncrieff

C. K. Scott Moncrieff (1889–1930), Charles Kenneth Scott Moncrieff, was a Scottish writer and officer who, after being wounded in the First World War, devoted himself to translation: the Song of Roland, Beowulf, Stendhal, Pirandello, and above all Proust, whose In Search of Lost Time he translated as Remembrance of Things Past from 1922 until his death, leaving only the last volume undone.
