The protocol
Bibliomancer serves the text.
Bibliomancer is the publisher here, never the author. These rules keep that distinction intact.
When copyright ends, access should expand. Every Bibliomancer text is therefore free to read online in full, without an account, a paywall, advertising or an email address. Nothing on this site is for sale; a voluntary contribution from readers is what funds the archive, and it never becomes a tollbooth in front of it.
But access alone is not enough. A raw transcription is not an edition. Reading requires structure, typography, provenance, judgment and the willingness to stop when evidence is weak. Automation makes this work repeatable; it does not make care optional.
Governing rules
- The author’s text is not training material for a rewrite. Bibliomancer restores and typesets; it does not modernise prose or impersonate a writer.
- Every intervention leaves a trace. Automated corrections are recorded and can be inspected.
- Editorial work identifies itself. Introductions, biographies and descriptions are clearly separated from source texts and checked against reliable evidence.
- Rights are territorial and uncertain books wait. A title is assessed in every territory it is offered. Ambiguity holds the title back; nothing publishes on a guess.
- One system, visibly consistent. The black-and-red fiction livery and its red-and-black non-fiction inverse make the archive recognisable without disguising one book as another.
- Nothing here guesses. Discovery, correction and preparation are automated; what cannot be verified is held, not published.
If this is your kind of arrangement, the archive is open.
