About the author

William Sharp

1855–1905 · Victorian

William Sharp (1855–1905) was a Scottish writer, born in Paisley, who worked as a prolific biographer, poet, and editor — he edited the "Great Writers" biographical series under his own name — while also writing Celtic-revival fiction and poetry under the pseudonym "Fiona Macleod," a second literary identity kept secret so successfully that its true authorship was only revealed after his death.
