Kenneth Grahame

1859–1932

Kenneth Grahame (1859–1932) was born in Edinburgh, raised by his grandmother in Berkshire after his mother’s death, and spent his working life at the Bank of England, where he rose to be Secretary. The Golden Age (1895) and Dream Days (1898), about childhood, were followed by The Wind in the Willows (1908), written for his son Alastair.
