G. C. Macaulay

1852–1915

G. C. Macaulay (George Campbell Macaulay, 1852–1915) was an English classical and medieval scholar, educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, who taught for many years as an assistant master at Rugby School. He edited the standard critical edition of John Gower's works, The Complete Works of John Gower, published in four volumes by the Clarendon Press between 1899 and 1902, which remained the authoritative text for most of the twentieth century.
