Eleanor Marx Aveling

1855–1898

Eleanor Marx (1855–1898), youngest daughter of Karl Marx, was a socialist organiser, writer and translator. Her translation of Madame Bovary (1886) was the first into English; she also translated Ibsen and edited her father’s work.
